Innovative Design for Disassembly

Wax was approached by Onzo, a developer of home energy monitors, to investigate the feasibility of incorporating Active Disassembly (AD) technology into their products. AD is a revolutionary technology that uses specially engineered smart materials to enable the non-destructive self-disassembly of products at End-of-Life (EoL).

In collaboration with ADR (Active Disassembly Research) and Ideas3, Wax determined applicable AD technologies, calculated the costs and Return on Investment of implementation as well as developing design concepts to show how AD could be applied to Onzo.
