Assessment of benefits of WEEE Polymer Reuse

WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) collected for disposal in the UK contains a significant amount of polymer, most of which is currently down-cycled and reused in low grade applications. Wax were commissioned to investigate the use of UK sourced WEEE polymer in the manufacture of new electronic product casings.

Wax, supported by Axion Recycling, determined the cost differential and logistics implications of using WEEE recyclate compared with virgin polymers. The study also established the changes required to the manufacturing process and the environmental benefits of its use.
